WOW!

Dear Parents,
The school year has begun and our Christian Education programs at St. Mark are gearing up, too. WOW! is our primary program for children who are in preschool through 5th grade. It meets about twice a month on Wednesdays after school from 3:45 – 6 pm. This is our second year of WOW! and it will begin with a parent orientation on September 16 at 6:30 pm. WOW! will officially begin on September 23.
For children who need a ride, car pools will be organized from the local schools. We know children will arrive at different times, so our first twenty minutes will be free play, including a few active and quiet games. We also know they may be hungry, so we’ll have a snack waiting for them. This year we will be using a Bible-focused, rotational curriculum called Spark. Children will have fun learning Bible stories through Bible skills and games, cooking, creative drama, computer lab, science projects, and video clips.
A snack will be served when the children first arrive and a meal will be served before the children leave. We plan to eat family style in groups that are made up of mixed ages.
We can’t offer this program without the help of many volunteers. People are needed to teach (if you wish, you can teach one or two weeks), prepare meals, serve food, clean up, and be a table parent at our meal. Being involved in your child's religious education can be a positive experience. Talk to one of us if you or a grandparent is interested in volunteering.
Of course, a program like this comes with some expenses. There is a registration fee of $55 for the entire year. It will help defray the costs of the curriculum and food. If this fee is not affordable, please let us know. We do not want to turn anyone away.
You can register by completing the enclosed registration form and bringing it to the church on September 13 on Rally Day. Each child needs their own registration form. We look forward to seeing you at the required parent orientation on September 16 at 6:30 pm.

P.S. We offer 4-2-4 during the 10 am worship service for children who are 4 years old to 4th grade. Children are invited to the Great Room after the children’s sermon for activities that will enhance the Bible story they have just heard. We will bring them back to worship later in the service.
