This April 16-20, St. Mark will host a mission event with "Feed My Starving Children."
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian hunger relief organization which was founded in
1987. Their mission is "Feeding God's Starving Children Hungry in Body and Spirit."
We will join together with volunteers from St. Mark and the community to package 1/2 million pouches of food for humanitarian relief organizations aound the world. Some of our youth have participated in this event in the past and found it to be a rewarding and fun experience.
Our foremothers were mission-minded women. Quilting, rolling bandages, raising money to build churches, orphanages, and schools, and spreading the gospel were all part of that mission. Through these projects women were able to carry out their vision of ministry and make a difference.
The Women of St. Mark would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our entire congregation. Generous members provided items needed to prepare SCHOOL KITS and HEALTH KITS for Lutheran World Relief. The donations were collected throughout August and September. They were prepared on September 24, 2007 at our Women's Pot Luck Dinner.
On Thank Offering Sunday, the beautiful handmade quilts, the school bags and health kits were blessed during the service. Our generous gifts of love will be greatly appreciated by so many people in need.
Your involvement in this project will mean a great deal to people all over the world. Lutheran World Relief has been a partner with the Women's group for 50 years, making it possible for congregations to reach the people who need them.
Our St. Mark Congregation provided:
A special Thank you to the Kiner Family. Daughters Katelyn and Rebekah kept track of all the donations received each week. We could not of accomplished our project with out them.
In April 2007, a group of St. Markers went on a mission trip to Ocean Springs, MS to help those recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Read accounts from the team on the Katrina Mission page
St. Mark hosts PADS guests on Monday nights from October through April. More information about P.A.D.S. can be found at www.padstohope.org.
