Christian Education Learning

When you gathered for your child's baptism, you promised to live with them among God's faithful people, bring them to the word of God and the holy supper, teach them the Lord's Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments, place in their hands the holy scriptures, and nurture them in faith and prayer, so that your children may learn to trust God, proclaim Christ through work and deed, are for others and the world God made, and work for justice and peace.

We want to support and guide you in the baptism promises with some ideas:

*To attend worship regularly as a family.

*To attend Christian Education classes, both as children and as adults.

*To encourage your children to know the following at certain grade levels:

Preschool and Kindergarten

  • To know table prayers, evening prayers, Jesus's birth

1st grade

  • To know familiar stories of the Bible such as Creation story, Noah's Ark, and Jonah

2nd grade

  • To know the Lord's Prayer

3rd grade

  • Receive a Bible, know the Bible has two parts; Old and New Testaments, be able to name some of the books of the Bible and know how to find a verse in the Bible.
  • Receive Holy Communion instruction

4th grade

  • To know the Apostle's Creed

5th grade

  • To know the 10 Commandments

**To attend fellowship activities such as Celebration! Sundays to build relationships with other church members and help those in need

**To pray daily with and for your child

"Let your light so shine before others that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven"
