“Jacob and Esau”
At FaithWalk we are doing a 9 week study of the Old Testament. Today’s lesson is about Jacob and Esau and can be found in Genesis 25 - 36. The goal for this story is show that God loves us and will be with us whatever we do and wherever we go.
Students ask your parents the following questions and record their answers:
Today’s story is about twin brothers, Jacob and Esau. Esau was the oldest and was to receive all the blessing and honors from his father. However, Jacob, who was favored by his mother tricks his father into giving him the blessing instead….talk about sibling rivalry!
1. Growing up, did your mom or dad have any brothers and sisters? Were any considered mom or dad’s “favorite”. How did that make them feel? Did they all get along?
If you have any brothers and sisters, is there any sibling rivalry? Do you get along?
2. What would you think if you lived in a culture like in the Old Testament times that honored only first born children or males. What does God think about that way of thinking?
3. Did your parents ever trick someone to get what they wanted? How did it turn out?

Pray together: Dear God, please be with us as we seek your truth and blessing. Help us know that it's okay to ask questions. You do not run from challenge. Help us also learn to stay and deal with one another. Amen
Give each other this blessing: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
