“Joseph”
At FaithWalk we are doing a 9 week study of the Old Testament. Today’s lesson is about Joseph and can be found in Genesis 35 - 50. It is a great story filled with deception, favoritism, and the pain found in families. According to our curriculum, “Here We Stand”, the goal for this story is to show that God can work through people and events to bring good from evil.
Students ask your parents the following questions and record their answers:
Today’s story is about Joseph who was favored over his other siblings by Jacob, his father. Jacob gave Joseph a beautiful coat and not the other brothers so they were very jealous. They wanted to kill him, but instead sold him to some traders passing by. He ended up living in Pharoah’s temple interpreting dreams and was able to save his family when famine struck.
1. Joseph kept doing good even when others were unfair to him. When have others been unfair to you? How did you react?
2. In the Lord’s prayer, we pray “deliver us from evil”. What does that mean to you?
3. How do you know if God is using you to do God’s work?
