Be A SMALL Group Convenor

Come September, if you can host a small group, either at your home or at church, any day of the week or any time of the day, once a week or four weeks, the church Council wants you!  You will facilitate discussion, but not lead it, host, but not be in charge! Training will happen closer to the event--learn to SHARE your FAITH.

Backpack

This fall we will begin a new ministry called the Back Pack Ministry. It came to our attention that there are children within our neighborhoods in Mt. Prospect who do not get enough to eat on the weekends.

St. Mark is joining with an area school to fill eight backpacks with food for a weekend. The school social workers will decide who to give the backpacks to. St. Mark will collect the food, fill the backpacks, deliver the backpacks to the school, and then pick up the returned, empty backpacks.

Food that is needed includes: Individual packages of cereal, canned fruit, macaroni, canned stew or soup. For a complete list, check out the brochure in the narthex.

We need volunteers or groups to help pack and deliver the backpacks. This would be a great project for Girl and Boy Scouts, confirmation classes, seniors, small groups or individuals. Contact Cindy Decker for more information.

"Pray Always"

In our summer Bible study, written by the Rev. Gladys G. Moore, we will explore three aspects of prayer:   We will learn some about what Jesus and the early evangelists thought and taught about the inportance of being persistant in prayer.  We will look at passages in the Old Testament that urge us to “wait upon the Lord” and explore the relationship between prayer and waiting.  And we will seek to understand the power of prayer to change us and perhaps our circumstances, too.

These studies can be found in the June and July/August issues of the Lutheran Woman Today magazine. Or they can be downloaded for free from www.lutheranwomantoday.org. Or let us know and we can provide copies for you.

Campbell's_Labels_for_Education

As the weather turns colder and soup is on the menu, remember to save the labels for education. Labels for education can be found not only Campbell’s products, but also on Pepperidge Farm, V8, Prego, Spaghetti-O’s, and Swanson products. Check each product for which part of the label you need to save or go to labelsforeducation.com/pdf/eligible_products.pdf

Bring the labels or UPC’s to the church kitchen or put them in the Preschool mailbox. St. Mark Preschool has received many free school items for the children from Campbell’s.
